Defensive/Other Abilities for Fire Mages

Post Body

There is a lot of information out there on rotation and improving dps, and while my dps needs serious work, I really want to make full use of my toolkit and improve my defence (both for pvp and pve, I know these will be quite different). I’m mostly concerned about using these in group situations (i.e. I use nova when I’m soloing, but I never know when to use it in groups because it breaks with damage, and Im never confident enough to take the lead on what to poly)

More specifically I’m really bad at using: - Dragon’s Breathe (I try to use it at the end of combustion, and when I’m close to a mob/boss casting and counter spell is on cooldown) - Frostnova - Polymorph - Alter Time (I’d really like to understand this one, every time I think of it I’m at 20% health wishing I’d used it earlier, but I’m not sure how to know in advance) - Mirror Image - Remove Curse (How can I tell if a debuff is a curse?) - Spellsteal (How can I tell when to use this one?)

I also have the human ability that removes movement impairments, and I’m not sure when I can use this either.

Besides knowing dungeons, do you have any other tips for damage mitigation as a fire mage?

I realise I’m asking a lot, but if you have a guide you can link to, or you could give me tips on one or two of these, that would really really help!
