Phasing while party synced

Hi all, I was party synced with a friend running content in emerald dream when he wanted to switch to finish main story stuff. He got on my dragon and we flew into the waking shores but after entering the citadel area he was forced off of my mount and then phased. I havent done any story on this alt so maybe thats the issue but I figured party sync would fix it would it not? Would talking to the bronze drake near seballion and wrathion and choosing his skip fix it?
