All of the focus on new content has been about realizing what didn't work in cataclysm, and trying something different for MoP. Since the reveal, we've seen the new zones, the choice Pandaren players will have to make between Horde and Alliance, and have gotten huge pointers towards open war and world PvP.
The title and trailer would suggest that the whole thing is about Pandas, but there seems to be a lot of story context and game content that pushes us as players and our factions to the forefront of the world-changing events in this XPac. Why wasn't that put forward first instead? Instead of... hey guys here's Pandas and Pandaland?
It all just seems a bit odd because player backlash to new races before xpacs always ends up being a big deal... so why would you lead with that? The Burning Crusade wasn't "World of Warcraft: Shipwrecked Aliens/Cracked-out Elves", Wrath wasn't "World of Warcraft: Name of a Continent You Don't Know Anything About", etc. etc.
Anyway, hopefully we'll get some more details about our role in the expansion, because a lot of the Panda QQ seems like it could be resolved if people took a deeper look.
