I was thinking about it and there's an offensive and healingdefensive caster type of every archetype that it suits except Holy(or plausibly necromatic healer). There were of course the times of the shockadin, and disc does some offensive holy damage as a core part of its role but that's just a means to a healing end.

I wonder why they never went whole hog with it. Either split off a counterpart to shadow for priests or flesh out Shockadin. It would be kinda cool now with the whole tome casting animations for Paladins honestly, and a plate dps caster just gives me those battlemage vibes. What are your thoughts or seemingly obvious missed opportunities? It's all a pipe dream I'm sure like tank shamans or gunslinger rogues but it's a neat discussion.
