Personally I'm anticipating the Alliance to do something just as "gruesome" if not more so in retaliation. Something the majority of the play base would never imagine happening, and thus painting them in just as dark a color and giving the entire rest of the expansion the morally gray feel that we've heard talked about.
You have to remember this is a war, and the very early stages of it. In most wars both sides end up doing horribly ghastly things to achieve victory and I believe this will ring true on Azeroth as well.
