How am I supposed to get into raiding?

I'm hoping to eventually run heroic hfc for the mount, but I can't even get into a normal run because I don't have curve. I've gone through two raids today. The first, I was kicked for not doing too well on dps for the first two bosses. The second, because we started on Zakuun and I didn't know which port to take- because I've never got that far outside of lfr. So between powertripping RL's and ridiculous entry requirements (>720 ilvl for hfc normal? Really?), how am I supposed to ever get into raiding?

If it helps, I'm a 690 Arms Warrior.
