Per doctor's orders, I packed my wound with iodoform packing strip tonight for the first time. I'm not going to lie, it was a bit of a surreal experience putting something in my body like that.
My big concern, I didn't do as good of a job as they would have. I'm sure it's packed well, but I can't imagine my technique is on par with someone who does it professionally. I still have weekly appointments for my local wound center to do their thing (debridement) and then repacking themselves.
As long as I'm packing it as tightly, but not over packing it, and keeping it covered per instruction, am I going to be alright in between weekly appointments?
I'm fairly confident I did a good job. I also have an, I'd imagine understandable, anxiety about this as well.
