T-Series Sponsors Development of Open-Source, Publicly Available Naval Railgun
- Hasan Gupta
CEO of Bollywood music industry leader T-Series Bhushan Kumar has recently announced a new project of T-Series: the development of a series of naval-based rail guns to be made accessible to the entire world. After watching the news, he said, he realized that countries such as Korea were spending billions of dollars developing fancy schmancy railguns, only to save them for themselves! Logically, this would force every other country to spend billions on their own private railguns as well. As a citizen of the most charitable nation on Earth, Kumar wants to put a stop to that: by giving plans and production rights to every country for free and publishing them on the internet, countries will divert those billions in development costs into endeavors such as ending poverty and solving hunger, right?
A cost of $2 billion will be fronted by T-Series and a conglomeration of other bollywood music titans. This money will be used in a collaboration with DRDO, which has been on the verge of developing a 10 MJ railgun as of 2017, meaning that all the expertise is there: research is simply linear in making the railgun practically efficient and more MJs. They are projected to serve important surface bombardment, CIWS, and even ship to ship roles given a long enough range. Three "production" variants will be developed for the Indian navy, the T-Series Freemium 8MJ railgun developed by the start of 2028 (we sort of already have this but we need to make it smaller and practical), T-Series Lite 16MJ railgun (serving a versatile role where 1-4 can easily be put on a ship), set to be developed by the start of 2030, and the T-Series Premium 64MJ railgun, set to be developed by the start of 2033 and serving a more flagship/main gun role. However, many intermediate guns will have to be developed less formally in the range between 6-64 MJ for developmental reasons, and the production plans and schematics will be made open source so the South Asian Navy and other navies around the world can make production variants for any MJ in the range easily.
Kumar has put out a call to all charitable and philanthropic nations over the world to lend their expertise and monetary resources to this project in order to make it the best damn railgun on earth.
