[SECRET] Blowing Up the Chinese Lunar Base

Post Body

We all know that China is rushing a major lunar base with construction lasting from 2029 to 2033. If China is allowed to claim the whole damn moon, this will be an irreparable blow to national prestige. However, India doesn't really have the technological prowess or money to waste on building a similar program (and can't reach the moon to the same degree before China anyways). Instead, a much easier task is to build a system that can get an explosive payload to what China builds on the moon to blow it up.

Component One: Launch System

So it turns out that we can't even really build a super-heavy launch system in a reasonable amount of time and money, so we'll contract Space X and its Super Heavy Launch system instead. Development and stuff for the launch system will continue to be done in California under wraps but the launch itself would be prepared for in India. This super heavy launch system is ideal because of its reusable nature, making every launch cost inconsequential. Musk will totally agree because 1. this application is really cool and musk would be totally into it, 2. SpaceX would probably fail without NASA contracts and contracting to friends such as us is the only way they can get enough money to survive, 3. Musk is a firm believer that America (spaceX) will get to all of space first, and blowing up chinese stuff is the only way that can happen.

We will give SpaceX $5 billion for development of the rocket to completion and the delivery of a reusable rocket to us, which is a pretty sweet deal considering we aren't excluding them from selling to other countries so we are basically just paying for our own rocket some of the remaining development.

Component Two: Explodey Thingie That Detaches in Space

Our explosive component that will launch into the space colony and exterminate it utterly will be a heavily modified Starship HLS. Unit cost will be around $0.8 billion dollars, around the same as the Starship HLS but less because it's not crewed and doesn't need life support systems etc., and we'll order two for now. We will give SpaceX $1 billion towards the development of the Starship HLS and set aside $1 billion to split between SpaceX in consulting fees and domestic design work to develop the variant of the Starship HLS for our needs.

What will be taken out of the Starship HLS to save costs and space:

  • Any component that is only there to help it land safely on the moon (why the hell would we need those?)
  • Any component that is only there to enable human habitation and/or survival (since this won't be crewed)
  • really just anything that doesn't contribute towards its end goal of crashing and exploding in a destructive manner

What will be put in (there's a lot of payload space, 200 tons in fact):

  • Additional thrust to propel the HLS into the lunar base with as great of a momentum as possible
  • Additional fuel for the same goal
  • Hard armored tip at the end of the rocket to pierce the lunar surface and create an effect similar to world war two earthquake bombs
  • Shrapnel bombs to send immense amounts of shrapnel everywhere
  • Conventional explosives designed to explode without oxygen

As you would notice, the methods of destruction are intended with much redundancy given the unpredictability of space. Even if conventional explosives fail to do the job due to vacuum like conditions, shrapnel will be even more effective since reduced gravity will enable fragments to travel farther, piercing any lunar structure and draining them of oxygen (or outright shredding it depending on distance). Even if this doesn't work, the sheer kinetic energy of a rocket not even attempting to slow itself down combined with the armored tip will literally create a massive crater in the lunar surface beneath the facility, causing the crater to implode and wreak devastation as what happened in World War Two.

Development and production will all be completed by 2028 due to existing technologies set to test launch back in 2021, as well as the increased margin of error provided by no man or woman in the spacecraft. Funds will be taken out of an increased science budget and slightly from the defense budget. All we need is SpaceX to help us in our quest to prohibit China from claiming the entire moon.
