Second Iran Iraq War
The Raid on Iran’s Nuclear facilities
The initial strike plan of the UAR was to use Submarine’s with cruise missiles and air launched standoff munitions. While Iran does possess a fleet of modernised aircraft, defending the airspace around the Nuclear facilities proved insufficient due to the Delta Dart’s taking advantage of their air to ground standoff munitions. They were able to launch the strikes from an incredibly comfortable distance. Due to the sheer quantity of missiles and the lack of any airborne Early Warning system to intercept cruise missiles, they were unable to intercept all of them and their Nuclear infrastructure was damaged.
- Ardakan Yellowcake Storage Sites destroyed
- Darkhovin Nuclear Powerplant facility destroyed, nuclear meltdown in progress, China Syndrome imminent without intervention
- Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant significantly damaged
INES LEVEL 7 EVENT OCCURING IN IRAN
An eerie blue glow appears above the ruins of the Darkhovin Powerplant, hydrogen fires having broken out. With the facility being destroyed, all cooling systems have failed, the nuclear fuel bundles have started to burn through the concrete, spewing radioactive smoke into the air. Radiation burns and deaths have been reported around the area. The facilities staff all perished in the initial strike. There are massive concerns of gross contamination to the local river system from this disaster, furthermore, due to this occurring during an active armed conflict, no civil firefighters or disaster services have responded.
Casualties: 2,340 dead, 4,000 severely injured, expected to rise dramatically unless the event is contained
Iranian strikes on the Arab world
The Iranian usage of their missile arsenal in a long range strike on Arab oil infrastructure and military bases has been moderately effective against civil energy plants. Arab emergency services have been forced to launch emergency rescue operations as some fires rage at oil refineries. The strikes on military bases and nuclear plants have resulted in minimal damage due to hardening and the extensive size of the BMD system. Furthermore, the Iranian cyberwarfare attacks have brought some systems offline in important industries. The UAR will be forced to provide aid to many firms to get their businesses and critical infrastructure back online.
Casualties: 230 dead or injured
The Air War
The Iranian air force have sortied to meet the approaching mass of Arab fixed wing craft. In one of the largest air engagements in recent memory hundreds of aircraft would clash in the skies above Khuzestan. The Iranian commanders planned to have a dog fight and make use of their old aircraft in this way, however, this plan would not come to fruition for a while due to the extensive use of long range munitions by both sides. As the air battle continued, some Arab aircraft broke off in SEAD strikes, successfully suppressing the air defence teams rushed into service with brand new Israeli equipment of which they have had little training. Much like the Iraqis in the invasion of Kuwait, their undertrained crews suffered incredible losses in the opening moves of the air campaign. Furthermore, the Arab usage of electronic warfare and superior intelligence and early warning equipment would provide a significant advantage during this engagement, allowing their advanced 5th gens to better coordinate and utilise data from all of their myriad of radars. It quickly became apparent that the Cyrus aircraft were the only planes in the Iranian air force truly capable of standing up to the highly modern 5th gen deployed by the Arabs, performing admirably where other cold war era aircraft were simply slaughtered. The capabilities of the Iranian Air Force have been dramatically reduced.
Arab losses:
J-10 30x
Panavia Tornado 37x
Eurofighter Typhoon 21x
F-31 8x
JH-9 4
F-35 Block V 4x
Skyborg 34x
Delta Dart F-5C 2x
Iranian losses:
Air Defence system, suppressed and severely damaged
J-10 69x
J-10B 56x
F-10B 48x
Shahed 29 50x
F-14 36x
Mig-29a 7x
HESA Airframes 214x
Cyrus Fighters 13x
The Battle for Khuzestan
In Spite of the raging radioactive fires in the distance, the armies of Iran and the UAR began to clash across the Khuzestan border. The UAR having decisively gained air superiority, was able to quickly utilise its bridgelayers to cross the rivers that impeded their advance was quickly met with the Iranian Army and the Immortals. The Iranians would deploy a large force nearly 400,000 to meet the advancing Arab Army along the front. In the largest tank battles since WW2 the Iranian military suffered incredible losses to its mostly outdated tank fleet, the notable exception being the Brazilian upgraded tanks who performed admirably in the face of overwhelming enemy numbers and air support. As the battle continued the Iranian regular army, suffering extreme losses and the radiation laced smoke of death coming down upon them began to flee. With their regular colleagues routing the Immortals have either been forced back to the Eastern limits of Khuzestan or surrounded and destroyed/captured. Overall the Arab army has successfully broken the back of the Iranian army.
Iranian losses:
Regular army equipment/men 68% captured or destroyed
Immortal army equipment/men 45% captured or destroyed Arab losses:
Arab army equipment/men 15% destroyed or captured
The Fall of Tehran
Military historians will long be puzzled as to why Iran chose to only defend Khuzestan during the Arab Invasion. With all Iranian forces being deployed in the South, it has allowed Rebel and Arab forces to simply occupy a great deal of the country. Meeting all of their operation objectives due to the complete lack of Iranian resistance. With the fall of Tehran, the Iranian government loyalists have been forced to evacuate with their Immortals to the east of the country. In Tehran itself, the regular military and civil government have decided to capitulate unconditionally to the Rebel and Arab forces, calling for all Iranian units to stand down immediately. It will remain to be seen what the loyalists will decide to do.
