Oslo,
As our brother in the Arctic Union, we need to discuss our proposal to Cascada regarding open borders, and our end goal with that endeavor.
Over time, it has become increasingly apparent to us that Cascadia desires closer integration with the Arctic Union, and it has recently taken steps to exit the North American equivalent. While we understand that there is a history that comes with the Cascadian state, we see the tumultous times long behind it, with the country finding stability now for nearly a decade.
The market of a post-American state like Cascadia, even if it is the second smallest, is a valuable one for Arctic Union enterprises to enter. Cascadia's eventual succession to the AU would also include the AU finally controlling the entire length of the treasured Northwest Passage, ensuring its security. Overall, we see many benefits to potential Cascadian membership in the AU in the future. However, their full commitment to the union is not yet solid.
Instead, we've worked it out to begin with simple open borders. Open borders would mostly allow people to travel freely between the NU and Cascadia, facilitating business and social ties. However, because of the existing open border agreement in the Arctic Union, Cascadians would be able to fly from the Northern Union to Norway passport-free.
Thus, we see fit to seek your permission in opening your borders, even in a relatively limited capacity, to Cascadia so that we may open ours and begin forging a friendship that will benefit us all.
We look forward to a response.
