Hello from Ottawa!
We've noticed that the current Greenandic government has an interest in increased independence from Denmark and self-sufficiency. We see this as an opportunity to help you out and make another friend up here in the somewhat lonely Arctic rim. So here are our proposals:
Economic
We would first like to offer a free trade agreement with Greenland. This would allow cheaper imports of Canadian grains and wheat into the country as you work on establishing your own domestic agriculture, and will allow the necessary technology for that agriculture to be accessible to Greenland for cheaper than otherwise available. If Greenland continues to seek self-sufficiency from Denmark, this would be a good way to start. What we get out of this is another nearby friend to import food from should we have issues at home with agricultural production.
We would also like to offer the possibility of a scholarship programme allowing Greenlandic students who are university-bound the opportunity to pursue higher education for next-to-free here in Canada. This would allow your country's best and brightest the chance to study in a developed economy with access to some of the best higher education around. In return, we would ask for a skilled-worker visa specifically for Canadian workers in Greenland that allows our skilled workers to fill some of the gaps that may be present in your economy until those gaps can be filled by educated domestic talent. We would be amendable to this programme giving preference to those of Greenlandic descent or otherwise Inuit people.
Military
So with our expansion of the Northwest Passage, we're coming to develop more of a military presence in the way-up North. So it wouldn't be much trouble at all for us to help patrol your waters while we're making our regular rounds. We've got quite a navy, and it's only going to grow in coming years. So we're available for patrols if you want. If you don't, that's cool too.
