From the Canadian Global Affairs Office

We here in Ottawa would like to wish our friends across the Atlantic a good evening, and discuss the inclusion of New England in the Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement about to go in force between Canada and the EU next year.

Negotiations with the American successors on their involvement in the TTIP agreement between the USA and EU quickly broke down we saw as a result of the Americans not wanting other successors in the deal. They were not particularly specific as to why this was.

As we already have CETA going into effect soon, we wanted to bring up the possibility of keeping the terms within it but extending the agreement to the North Atlantic Commonwealth (New England) as well, as they have proven themselves to be a trustworthy ally of ours. Such a measure would make European goods more accessible to another developed market (which we assume was the intent of inviting the successors into the agreement) while allowing us to pursue closer ties both with the European Union and North Atlantic Commonwealth.

We think that a successful inclusion of New England would help bring the new country under both of our wings as well as demonstrate to United States that a trade agreement involving the successors can easily be a successful one.

We eagerly await your reply.
