In September 2013, Golden Dawn Founder and Leader Nikolaos Michaloliakos among other high-ranking members were imprisoned both on the charges of creating a criminal organization after the stabbing of an anti-fascist rapper, Pavlos Fyssas by another Golden Dawn member. Ever since then, he's been allowed to roam freely around the Attica region as long as he does not leave. Today, judge Eftychia Spiros has ruled Michaloliakos has been ruled as innocent and the GD ruled as a legitimate organization as the GD has seats in parliament, therefore "it is a natural part of the Greek democratic process, no matter how disgusting. If these people want to be racist, so be it. It is a byproduct of our liberty, albeit a repulsive one." she says.

Shortly after being released, Michaloliakos has sent a communiqué to other GD members, talking about reorganization within the party. He is planning a public speaking tour of Greece due for next month.
