Statement from the Minister for Local Government and Devolution:

"A State of Emergency has been declared; the Government of the Kingdom of Norway and Iceland do not recognise the removal of the contemporary legislative body as a legal action. In direct contrast to the purpose of the current devolved Assembly, an Icelandic Separatist Movement has risen - that of an illegitimate cause and the Official Government of the Kingdom of Norway view these actions as a threat to our country, and our prosperous union.

Due to exceptional circumstances, the Prime Minister has agreed with his counter-part in Iceland, the areas identified to be within the control of the Separatists will now be placed under martial law. The Icelandic Police Service and Crisis Response Teams are in a compromised state and are unauthorised to continue operations. The Icelandic Coast Guard Service is also now under temporary suspension, its' duties shall be carried out by the Norwegian Navy; all Icelandic Military Vehicles and Equipment not in use by the recognised devolved Assembly will further be impounded until further notice. We wish to make it known that we are fully committed to supporting the devolved assembly lead by the First Minister, and will act to re-instate it as per the legal mandate at the earliest possible opportunity."

UPDATED SITUATION:

Joint Statement from the Minister of Defence and the Office of the Prime Minister:

"In response to recent events, stemming from the unlawful suspension of the devolved Icelandic Assembly, the Kingdom of Norway and Iceland has successfully evacuated the First Minister and his Cabinet. The Minister for Defence has further instructed all Icelandic Military Units to defend the Capital of Reykjavik and an international no-fly zone has further been established over Separatist held zones. The Norwegian Air Service shall respond to all aircraft within restricted airspace with force, though authorises exemptions to its' Nordic Council Allies provided notification is given.

The Ministry of Defence is holding ongoing crisis talks with the Swedish Government and its' other Nordic Allies in order to reclaim its' territories in a swift manner, whilst limiting civilian casualties. It is increasingly likely that a diplomatic solution will not be met."
