First off, I want to say this wasn't meant to go here, but /u/TheFallenHero told me. The last paragraph is subjected to my views, but the rest is fact. So, lets talk some facts. Robots like IBM’s Watson and the google smart cars are better than humans could ever be at whatever they’re doing. Part of what Watson does is being a general purpose doctor robot who can see 100 times more patents a day then a normal doctor, he can store more information than human doctors and can learn faster too. Autos, or automatic cars (which is a bad name for them because they do way more than cars) are safer than human drives, they don’t need to be perfect, just better than us. Baxter is slow, but he can do whatever you show him as long as it's in his reach.

Communism, Marxism, and Socialism stemmed from Karl Marx, but are different. Marx proposed a revolution held by the workers. He theorized that this revolution would end with a government by the people without any money. Socialism follows Mary's ideas, but not exactly. Communism is more forced, shown by Stalin forcing farmers into large, communal farms. This is different from the other two, saying there still is a physical government, runned by a person.

The top 10 occupations from May 2013 in numbers of employees add up to 27,684,430 people employed out of the 318,900,000, that’s 10% of the population. These top ten jobs in descending order of worker pool are as followed: retail salesman, cashiers, food prep people (fast food), office clerks, nurses, waiters, customer service, transportation, secretaries, and janitors. These jobs can almost be totally replaced with robots, but before you ask “but this is only 10% of the population, and we did just fine in the depression with 25% unemployment work” 50% of jobs in the us can be replaced with robots which are in testing right now.

The robots we have now are very simple, but they just show what to come. It’s hard to live on the poverty line ($23,850 yearly) but what happens when P of the population live on welfare? Nothing good. Normally the argument is that the unions will come and save us, but that is a lie. History has proven that when unions fight technology, the unions lose. Any way, where was I? Oh right. Some stuff can happen from here.

First, countries could ban robots, but that’ll just delay the problem. The entire world won’t ban robots at once, so everywhere that didn’t will value then even more.

Second, governments can just let people live on welfare, causing massive riots. Why? No money means no food. When almost everyone has anything they want, whenever they want it and no money, people will (hopefully) turn to socialism. This type of socialism doesn’t have the issue of people hoarding stuff, because everyone could get everything whenever. Also, people predict this won’t happen 60 or 70 years in the future, but 25 or 50.

Well, that got a little ranty. Wish I added some more, but enjoy. Also, please tell me if anything is unclear, I would love to fix some part of this.

TL;DR

With the amount of automation happening right now about 50% of the population will be without a job.

I say riots will break out

With everything available why not socialism?

ROBITS, ROBITS EVERYWHERE
