Today, the final Black Arrow sounding rocket flew into the air from the Bonaire space centre (kindly let to us by the government of Luxembourg) and collected good data from the upper atmosphere of Earth. The current program's operating cost so far has been £150million, a tiny percentage of our £79.2billion budget. Our next goal is of course the development of rocket launch systems for our commercial projects. Construction of a test for Triton 1A has been put into production and after a hopefully successful testing programme, we will be offering free space launches for Caribbean Alliance members, and discounted prices for allied countries.
Vessel | Objective | Notes |
---|---|---|
Black Arrow I | Mid-atmospheric readings and measurements | Nominal flight, no problems experienced except for a slight -0.3 degree roll error on ascent. Apoapsis: 101km |
Black Arrow II | High-atmospheric readings and measurements, solar activity recordings | Successful recovery of payload. Apoapsis: 671km |
The Ministry of Defence has been discussing the possibility of turning the 'Black Arrow' series of sounding rockets into medium-range guided missiles. If successful, the theoretical range could be upwards of 430km.
