President of Bulgaria: I know that practically when I claimed Bulgaria we automatically got out of Portugal and got independence, but I had to make it official!

In a struggle for independence, bulgarians are doing all they can to find the path towards peace and sovereignty.

The High Archon introduced the Bulgarian independence Referendum Bill, setting out the arrangements for this referendum. And so it was put forward on 21 September 2038 and also approved by the president on 23 September 2038.

The referendum question, as recommended by the Electoral Commission, was "Should Bulgaria be an independent country and not part of Portugal anymore?" – voters can only answer yes or no. With some exceptions, all residents in Bulgaria over 16 can vote, representing over 6.9 million people. Only a simple majority is required to vote for independence.

The results came in the next few days and were like this: Excluding those undecided, the figures were 81% for Yes and 19% for No.

After these events, I, the President of Republic of Bulgaria declare Independency and we're not officially part of Portugal anymore.

Anyhow, bulgarians appreciate all the help and support we had from Portugal in these last couple of years, and so we decided to offer support to our friends from Portugal whenever they need us!
