There are 3.7bn #humans who are digitally excluded on our planet. The lack of global connectivity is recognized as a huge problem and the @WorldBank and @UN have prioritized connectivity as one of their major goals by 2030.
There are 1000 mobile network operators covering the connected part of the world but there are NONE covering the unconnected. This is a massive problem when considering that those rural areas are home to half of the world’s population!
@facebook, @google, @microsoft have all made significant investments in researching and developing technology that can reach the unconnected in trials and have successfully connected them. Yet the digital divide grows bigger? Why?
It is not down to technology or money alone; it is because nobody has found a sustainable business model to keep the unconnected connected (until now).
We have and we believe the only way to connect the unconnected and bridge the digital divide is via a sharing economy, a new financial model the incentivizes connectivity.
The world’s economies are reliant on connectivity more than ever and the demand for digital identity, financial services and e-commerce will grow exponentially.
@worldmobileteam, @InputOutputHK and @cardano have as good as chance as any existing company to become the gateway to the internet for billions of people. First, we connect the unconnected and then we #bank the #unbanked. This our chance to reboot the entire system.
Together we will open a new world.
