Im writing a medieval ish fantasy and am planning my currencies to be metal coin and wax paper based. The thing about currency is that they have to have something to base their value on, otherwise they'd be inflation (unless it's a fiat currency like the USD). IN a medieval ish setting, what could be the item that they designate value on? I cant imagine medieval people having stashes of bars of gold like in real life
Make a silverish coin based on the name of the king, make it worth one fish. Make one smaller from copper and name it after the queen, make it worth one bread. Make a goldish one worth about a good cow, name it after some godly figure that kingdom worships.
