Do you put any twist on the classic "Light vs. Dark" theme?
Post Body

How do you use the classical themes of light and dark in your world?

Personally, with my world, I make it where light and dark are not inherently good or bad. Heroes can use dark magic and villains can use light magic. Too much light magic can burn and blind, too much shadow magic can curse and warp.

My main antagonist is a corrupted Celestial, a divine, shapeshifting angel dragon, who wishes to snuff out the dark, burn the entire world and remake everything in his image. Despite his angelic appearance, he is anything but holy.

Meanwhile, my species that is gifted in shadow magic, the Lunarians, are a pacifistic society who would rather just fly around with their ash-grey wings than use their dark powers for evil. Unfortunately, the Lunarians are often ostracized and hide within the Twilight Realm for their own safety.

Playing it straight is the subversion at this point. Everyone does sympathetic demons.
