So far I've been doing hard(ish) scifi worldbuilding 100-200 years in the future.
But recently I've been thinking about doing a 10k jump and forgo science based explanations altogether. The setting has FTL transport and coms, as well as sublight propulsion that doesn't require to carry propellants. There is no time travel.
The focus would be more on transhumanism and posthumanism. The humanity is reduced to a few million eternals scattered through the milky way. In the setting an increasing number of eternals are going dark, cut any communication. The main characters starts to investigate it.
Is anyone else here doing very far future worldbuilding? I'd be thankful for any reference material too.
