Post Body

Hello everyone, I'm the manager of a no-profit sailing school from Italy.

I kept hearing about Workaway and Worldpackers so we decided to give it a spin this summer. I'd like to start off on the right foot, but I admit I'm not sure what to do now that my profile has been accepted by the workaway staff. We've already been working with volunteers as ground staff met by word of mouth since forever, so I'm positive we'll be able to have positive collaborations once we meet people face to face, but I'm worried about what comes before that!

Just a few questions for anyone who wants to chime in:

  • What's general good practice about staying in contact with workawayers in advance?
  • Is it fine to contact available workawayers first (ones available in the "Find a Workawayers" page) or does it sound fishy?
  • What would you like to know before travelling to the host?
  • What's the ideal way you'd like to be welcomed by a host?

Thank you all for taking the time to read this!
