Flew to Central America, from Europe. The workaway is not as described at all, feel trapped.
Post Body

Me and my partner flew to Central America two days ago to participate on a workaway we had been speaking to for a while. It's very rural and they had to organize our travel here from the capital, we also agreed to stay three months so have quite abit of stuff. At first communication was great but in the last few weeks since our flights were booked they lost interest and seemingly forgot what positions or jobs we were coming to undertake. Firstly we made it clear we weren't interested in sharing a room, were over thirty and have done our times in hostels. We had various other offers of workaways and made this our paramount specification.. We arrived and we are in separate beds and someone else is also in the room. I was also told I would be doing work in-line with my profession, I work in carpentry and machines, ranch work. Since they already have someone doing this, I'm scheduled to do cleaning everyday and cooking. I'm not above these jobs but I wouldn't of paid all this money and come here to do them. I'm 32 year old male and my main reason to come was to learn spanish and continue to be challenged within my skillset. I can cook for myself and partner but not for ten people, especially not for paying guests. The reviews were all good before we came, but the place is a gong show, and we both feel abit betrayed. She works with horses and I must point out fairly she is doing what she asked to do. I think they really need her so they just lied to get me here too. They also just dropped we would be doing seven hours a day, six days a week. 9 hours if we want language lessons. I want to ask to leave, but I'm afraid they'll kick us out and then we're stuck in a pretty dodgy country with all our luggage. I also had my heart set on learning Spanish which iv already started but I didn't ask to be their maid. Not sure why I'm posting but just thought I'd share this shit show, and see if anyone has advice. I think the only option is to stay a few days and see if it's as bad as the outlook predicts. Then try and get them to organize a ride out for us. I feel such an idiot for being deceived and I'm harboring so much resentment already.
