So, for a year and 8 months I've been working for an elected official and I can say I've hated it. I took this job because I was laid off during the pandemic and needed something to help pay the bills since unemployment wasn't cutting it.
I took this job because I thought, ok I'm in with this level of government and it should allow me to jump into a civil service position down the line, boy was that not the case. As exempt salary workers we were worked to hell, had unrealistic expectations set by our elected official boss, I realized they are bratty as hell, and they expected this hustle culture, safe to say we have a high turnover rate for a reason.
But after job searching nonstop I found something that is hourly and pays more, and in addition aligns a lot more closely to my career and education goals.
So happy to leave this job
