I've always heard this word pronounced "Oh'mauj", like a french pronunciation, but in fairness have only heard it in the context of paying respect or showing appreciation or honor towards someone/something.
Today, while looking up it's other definitions on DuckDuckGo, "Formal acknowledgment by a vassal of allegiance to his lord under feudal law", the vocal example only provided one pronunciation, which was closer to the english pronunciation to it's spelling, "Hawmuj".
Does the context affect the pronunciation of this word, or is it just one of those words that varies from personal or regional preference, like the word Carribean?
