Bedside table lamps turned from laminated blocks of Apitong and Ipe
Post Body

I laminated the blocks with epoxy from scraps I had accumulated of Apitong (yellow sapwood, red heartwood) and Ipe (dark brown) in random oriented stacks. The random sizing gave a really interesting pattern after turning, but it was really challenging to get the pieces to sit tight. Theyโ€™re wet sanded to 2000 grit for a silky smooth texture and crystal clear grain patterns. They took 45 Hours from start to finish. I made a time lapse video of most of the process and it can be seen here: https://youtu.be/njhQaZFkZqU?si=9XOVRaBtw9Q3Xb3g
