So I have been trying to re-seal this edge grain cutting board and some wooden bowls I got at the thrift store. They were all kind of messed up so I sanded out all the scratches and went to try to refinish them.
I tried mineral oil cutting board wax first, but it wasn’t quite the finish I liked, so then I tried walnut oil. It was a little better, but not quite what they originally looked like, so I think I’ll try a Tung Oil finish, something that both dries and hardens.
My question is, can I apply that directly onto the bowls/board now? Can Tung Oil cure and harden if there’s still semi-cured walnut oil in there, or do I need to do something to remove the old oil first? Or should I just let them sit for a while to cure fully before trying anything again?
