Hello. I'm an amateur with wood, but have been using my trusty angle grinder for years to carve handles on to wooden logs that I use to swing for strength and recreation. I had an idea to expedite the process, but being unsure of its validity (or how I'd pursue the technique without access to power tools / saws other than the angle grinder, a drill, and a dremmel), thought to come here. Essentially I want to cut a ~4" square around the core of a log, removing the outer material, but for between 1/4-1/2 of the length of the log (as to a full board cut) I realize this may not be explicitly clear, so I've included a very professional illustration with what I have in mind, as well as a video link for reference on what a finished product might look like (albeit with a longer handle).

Thanks all!
