Clean/fix Old Makita Miter Saw?

Just picked up this old Makita miter saw last week for a pretty good deal. Looking at the surface of the tool I'm wondering if there's value in trying to clean off the positives and how I would do so. And if there's anything else recommended to clean off the scuffs/marks on the rest of the surface?
Or could I cause more potential harm than good and I should just leave it alone?
