Lots and lots yes sir. I went of shanty 2 chic ... just woke up and I think I saw someone post a link below.
I stare and drink beer often in my shop 👌🏻 Don’t get it twisted, this is kinda garbage wood as well. But I didn’t want to build with good lumber and have my learning curve occur on valuable wood. So Doug Fir it was. I’m the same way ... you should have seen me baby my assembly tables. Now I’m like ... meh it’s a work table. Gotta make that first ding/scratch/dent and get it over with.
Look forward to seeing your photo!!
I’ll be posting a build album with detailed descriptions of what I did, and why I did it.
WARNING: I am a noob, and I am learning as I go. So take my advice with that in mind. I will make mistakes, and some of my advice may lead you to such fate as well. But I will, however, continually learn from them and update my advice accordingly.
Am noob. Have no idea what’s “normal” and what’s not. I did soften edges while sanding though.
I think the table saw was $500 and the planer was $1100
Right on ... keep on keepin on yourself my friend.
With Doug Fir I’ve noticed you HAVE to feel the wood. Heavy, moist to touch ... no bueno. I’ll probably “retire” from Doug Fir builds soon ... but I still have some learning to do, so maybe a couple more projects to hone my process and knowledge. Then it’s onto the hardwoods 😜
Not screwed. These are Festool domino attachments. I pocket holed the laminated parts together ... which admittedly in the photo looks like it attaches the top to the legs.
I’ll be posting a build album once I stain 👍🏻
ME. TOO! They love the shop because I have a bunch of spots they can get under, especially during the build phase.
Yea those plans are Kreg Jig everything for sure ... do you have any good links on breadboards done right? Either your own or ones you’ve used?
I know through my research how painstaking they are when done right, and I’m thirsty for knowledge.
Thank you so much! So I’ve built a couple other projects recently, and I’ll be staining to match (sort of). Others done with minwax classic grey, this one I’ll be using Verathane weathered grey to see if I have a preference one way or the other.
It’s all Doug Fir 2x6 ripped and planed ... 1 3/8” on thickness.
Totally legit question ... honestly we wanted to do a router round on this one, but we wanted to match the other pieces we just built. So we softened the edges a touch more on this one. From here on out, we'll probably do a 1/8" router round on these. Hope you're having a blast in all your noobiness ... I know I am!

Do it! It’s plans are super simple to follow. And the cut sheet is plain Jane. I think this is 17 2x6 and 1 4x4 (although I used 4x6 instead because it was drier and cleaner)
As for the training, I’m a firm believer now is one of the coolest times to be alive. Don’t know how to do it? YouTube. Can’t pronounce it? Google. I’ve self taught so many things with ease. So my suggestion is if you want to do it, the only thing stopping you, is you. The plans are linked a couple of times in this thread FYI 🙏🏻 now make sure you share your build when you do get to it 🙌🏻
