I'm trying to decide which path to go down to upgrade the fence on my old 60's era PM 66. Currently is has the original fence on it with the tubular rails and each time I set the fence up, if I want any accuracy at all, I have to measure front and back, then tap the thing in to place before locking it down.
I am also considering adding a router table extension to the table saw, if I can find one that fits and works well. I have heard that the incra is useful for this, but I don't know exactly why.
The incra is appealing because of the crazy accuracy that can be achieved, but it sounds like it is slightly more involved to get it locked into position than the biesemeyer. It also will take up considerably more space, since it sounds like it needs about 36" of space to the right of the fence when cutting large pieces.
The biesemeyer is appealing because they should be basically bomb-proof once they are set up. It's a tried and true design that seems to work well for almost everyone.
Does anyone have thoughts or opinions on one or both of them? Are there options that I might be overlooking? I've been poking around looking for answers on this topic and most of the threads I've come across in various forums are at least 5-15 years old, I'm not sure what may have changes since then. Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated.
