Bread Bowls as a beginner project?
Post Body

A couple questions for you wonderful folk.

I want to make a couple bread bowls (this sort of thing).

I have no power tools, but it seems that an adze and large amounts of elbow grease are all I need to make this sort of thing. That's about my price range, and I don't have space for large equipment anyway.

The biggest problem I'm having is I can't find where to buy lumber for this. I've called a few local places and they only have boards. I've tried some searches online and I'm obviously not using the right terms as I've had no luck.

Craigslist just has firewood and people wanting their stumps removed.

Where can I find wood for this? I'm in the Riverside/Corona area (California) if that helps.

Also, does it matter the type of wood since it's going to be dealing with food? (I know the finish will matter here).

Any thing I need to be aware of when buying wood for making into a bowl that a seller wouldn't tell me?

Thanks!
