UK Woodworkers, Where do you get your wood?

Hey guys, I am really interested in where any UK (London or Southampton areas more specifically) woodworkers get most of their supply from. I am a student so I can't afford any exotic woods but the only timber I can seem to find is carcassing or redwood from B&Q or Travis Perkins. There are so many things that I want to make but I don't really want to work with such soft woods.
