Exterior barn door material?

Iām in the process of building a shed and want to put a sliding barn door on it. I live in the very wet PNW and want to build with materials that will let other than pt lumber. It will be painted. Any suggestions? Would the frame be okay out of Douglas fir or Pine, or should it be a hardwood?
