Saw a post a few days ago asking people's methods and I wasn't able to reply so thought to share today.
My system is simple and requires no chemicals or cleaning agents.
I do this every morning or every few days when the glass is cool, room temp. Cleaning warm is not as effective and hot is dangerous using this method.
I keep a flat razor in a metal razor holder by the stove. I scrape the glass horizontally removing the thick creosote. After I scrape it I take a paper towel, crumple and wet half of it, dip it into ash from stove and clean the glass in circular motions with the wet ash, that removes what remains and polishes the glass. To make it really clean repeat or wipe again with a clean half damp paper towel.
