We use our fireplace insert to cut down on our heating bill, but I'd love to use it more efficiently. I've seen posts on stuffing wood stoves full of wood for more efficient and sustained burning, and wondered if the same principles apply to a fireplace insert. I feel like we are constantly feeding and watching the fire and it dies a lot bc we can't get more wood into it in time.
Are wood stoves and fireplace inserts similar? What tips should we know to keep the fire hot enough and going long enough- even overnight?
Thanks so much - I've learned quite a lot from this community already!
