Advice for changing surgeons mid pre-op process?

Post Body

I've already had my first nutritionist appointment and have scheduled follow-up nutritionist appointments, upper endoscopy (late jan 2021), psych eval (next week), and final pre-op appointment with the surgeon (early march 2021).

BUT I haven't been feeling confident about the surgeon. He's in-network and at the hospital connected with my other doctors... but I also had a consult initially with another doctor I felt way more comfortable with.

I compared the different patient reviews online and the first surgeon has some truly worrying ones - not about his personality (which, I get, can be abrasive and I don't care) but about his competency with these surgeries.

The other surgeon had one negative review and it wasn't complete; literally every other review was incredible (this surgeon also has the encouragement of my ex-roommate's tummy tuck surgeon, who was possibly the nicest person I've ever met).

Anyway, I've left a message for the other surgeon for another consult - since, as far as official steps go, it seems pretty early?? - but am wondering if anyone else has done it OR if there's a way to do this?
