I am 31/m, 5'11", current weight 394lbs. The fattest I've been was pushing 500lbs, but that was a long time ago. Aside from the sleep apnea, I am remarkably healthy. I hike, I swim, I enjoy being outdoors when the weather is suitable, I completed a full course of p90x last year, surprising the ever-loving crap out of my USMC buddy who did it with me.
The main concern I have, and please, no one take offense to this - is every WLS patient I have met at a year or more post-op (including my primary doctor and her sister) always looks so completely gaunt and withered and unhealthy. Don't get me wrong, I understand that malabsorption is the whole point, but tell me realistically: is there any chance, or any method, of avoiding that "look"?
Other than that simple shallow concern, I am excited to begin my new life.
