From what I've heard Andrzej Sapkowski does a great job creating interpersonal connections between characters in the books and in the games I see it too. But in the show I feel their chemistry is forced. Like he sees her and suddenly he's in love? What makes her special to him?

Maybe my issues are partially because Henry Cavill is clearly over a decade older than Anya Chalotra; like it feels like he's into a teenager in a sense. Or that the show didn't give that any time depicting new sorcerer Yennifer (after she transforms) into the one that meets Geralt so she still felt like a young girl and novice to me. I don't feel like they're kindered spirits.

But also there's little to no buildup. I compare it to the first episode with Renfri. It spent time building her mystique and they were also able to trauma bond (Yennifer could technically Gerald didn't know her history in the show for their intial interactions). Maybe it helps the actor is a bit closer to Henry's age.

I'm just thinking this girl is way too young mentally and brash for the generally stoic Gerald in the show. I kind of wish they casted an actor closer to Henry's age and wrote her to be a bit more mature. Because I'm not getting why this person specifically he's entranced with over anyone else he meets.

The only thing is the the djinn situation but Geralt must have been in this situation a 1000 times where am attractive woman gets herself in a precarious magical dilemma. Why did this stand out?

Does this change later in the series? I hope it does bc otherwise it just feels like he's super into her bc that's what happens in the books.

Just my thoughts, the show is great otherwise

EDIT: I think I really just don't like Yen in the show altogether. Maybe it's casting, writing, directing, etc. But I just don't care for her character. Weirdly though I liked her when she was crooked, but once she got "fixed" I was meh
