Question about the main story ending and the DLC

So, I just completed the main story for the first time. I got the epilogue with dandelion giving a short summary of what happened after. I thought you'd be able to interact with some main characters after and see what they were up to etc, but nope. I visited dandelion and there was nothing new to say.
So, my questions:
- Is this true for all characters? If so, what a shame.
- Will the old characters appear in the two DLC?
