Do you think what netflix/hissrich did to witcher was immoral, amateurish, or simply an expected waste?

Nerd rant/ramble because im bored, tldr at bottom

After getting back into the Witcher 3 after the next generation upgrade, I've been drawn back into the discussion and the drama around the show.

I've read all the books, watched the show and played all the games numerous times. I'm definitely on the conservative side of fandom where I personally  like when the core source material is adhered to as close as possible and then built upon as needed. When it comes to deviating, I think CDPR did fantastically if you view the games as a 'what if' scenario and also allow for the spectacles of the medium. I think it does lose out on core themes of the books and their setting, but it is so good that the fandom accepts it (plus its almost assuredly most peoples first expose to the witcher).

The fact that games did deviate so far from the books, but were still able to  capture the characters and the world I think is the strongest knock against the show. The show is often very amateurish in that the plot seems off, the changes that are made seem nonsensical, the world building seems subpar, etc. But reviewing the show is not my question today, as it is done to death already, my question is has what been done to witcher netflix immoral, amateurish or a waste?

On the point of it being immoral. First Hissrich has repeatedly and openly lied about being faithful to the source material. The era of good faith is dead here, the show deviates wildly from the source material and blood origin is the final nail here. Hissrich is now claiming that s3 is going to be closer to the books, how? Maybe it'll follow some details, but the core story is dead. How can you come back after BO? The wild hunt, elder blood first witcher, etc. Just wildly changed. I can't say that she doesn't like the book(low bar i know), but the idea that the writers or her are fans, to me at least, is dead due to lack of adherence/respect for the material. Next, I truly believe that exploiting an ip that fans have built up with their money and attention is wrong. Lets make this clear for the millionth time, there is no question threatening people is wrong. When you do things on this scale there is no doubt that people will act badly and there will be mentally ill people involved. That being said the years of millionaires with billion dollar companies backing them shitting on the fans who are actually working class, needs to end. This is why HC is so beloved because he gets the hundreds of hours and hard earned money fans put in to this ip to make it valuable to netflix. Then we are told to shut up about changes, called horrible evil things and watch our fandom strip mined for the general audience. I do think that it's fair to call that morally wrong on its face, and people have the right to be mad.

On the point of it being amateurish, im going into a bit of drama. I have really looked into the writing staff and here are somethings I think are basically true. They are virtually all far left politically, socialist or outright Marxist. This is important for two reasons. First there is no diversity of thought or philosophy in that room to add depth or challenge ideas. Two I think it leads to a lot of the same issues plaguing Hollywood to drag down the show (ie preachy self inserts, diversity above plot or at least very clumsily done). Yes, the witcher is very political, but what the fans want is for its politics and philosophy to be realized. Not the staff writers daddy issues (not an insult, but a reference to a real tweet by a staff writer).  Let alone warmed over marxism. Next, I see very little love for the fantasy genre, let alone the witcher in the writing room. Most of these writers are kind of sitcom or very pop culture focused. Here I have generally separated nerd culture into three groups in my thoughts, even though they are all fluid. Lore nerd, aesthetic nerd, pop culture nerd. Lore nerd like to delve into the source material, the plots, themes settings characters. They are very defensive of deviations from the source and what is unique about the material. Aesthetic nerds like alot about the source but are more fluid about details. I put fanfic here and maybe extended universe stuff, unless it's good enough that it just becomes cannon. They love the costumes, the buildings, the art, the stories, etc. The deep lore on say why Sauron is the way he is doesnt intresrt them as much or seem as crucial.  Pop culture nerds like the spectacles and experience the movies, games, the conventions, the cultural discusion etc. They are not wedded to anything but the cultural experience. I would put most writers, maybe derisively, in that last camp. De Barra, imo, doesn't care about the witcher, fantasy, or the fans of above mentioned things. He cares that he is on a big project that has predecossors in game of thrones and lotr. He said "You never write exactly for fans, it is impossible because every person has their own version of that book in their head," BS. Yes we have different aesthetic ideas and interpretations of lore, but none of us invisioned anything in blood origin, because it actively contradicts the material.

Finally, and I'll be brief here lol, was witcher netflix simply a waste? I don't know if Hollywood can produce the movie me and many fans want. Hollywood is very safe for the most part and I think movies by committee and by establishment figures is just what they want. They have to care about funding politics, esg, banks, etc. If there is anything directly negative I have to say here regarding witcher, and rings of power can get some too, it is that it was run by insider hacks without talent. Maybe they have the brute ability to create content, but it lacks the soul and passion of art. Tolkien was a deep thinker who consumed and explored such great art and literature and was inspired to create. Same goes for Sapkowski, he had a vision built by his experiences and brought it to life. The writers on netflix consumed soulless pop culture and created soulless pop culture. Worse yet they deride the material they exploit. As far as I know, Peter Jackson had a hell of time making lotr and we can see that not only in the great product that was lotr but also the trash that was the hobbit trilogy. Perhaps if the writers at netflix had been guided by a visionary, they could have done the grunt work to help realize that vision, instead of making a shadow of what could have been.

Thanks, just having a bit of fun

Tldr

Do you think hissrich exploited the fans/ip, the writers suck, or Hollywood is simply incapable of realizing these ips?
