Ok so Iā€™m very very new to witchcraft, and Iā€™m giving spell work a go. Iā€™ve decided to try protection spells first so I donā€™t accidentally invite something in thatā€™s not supposed to be here. I lit a white candle, wrote my name on a piece of paper in red in three times with the words ā€œIā€™m protected by the divineā€ across my name three times, intersecting my name. I got a ceramic plate from the kitchen, put a white candle on it, surrounded the candle with salt, lavender, mint, rosemary, patchouli and a bay leaf. I folded the paper towards me three times and laid in on the bed of herbs next to the candle. I also lit some sage and the candle at the same time. As the candle burned, the paper caught fire. The herbs started sizzling and burning. The plate broke and my bed caught on fire. I put it out with a cup of water I had handy just in case. Did I do something wrong? What does this mean? Did I mess it up somehow? Should I do another protection spell? I canā€™t help but feel like something is preventing me from doing this spell. Any advice is welcome!
