My neighbors have been nothing short of amazing, from helping out with basic yard work, to driving me to the hospital when I thought I broke my foot, to picking me up from the bike trail when my tire popped, etc. They have been there for us through it all, despite not knowing us they have treated me and my wife as family.
Muy neighbors helped us out without ever asking for anything in return, yet I always knew I wanted to show them some gratitude. A few weeks back I happened across a local farm that sells freshly slaughtered beef, and I knew then there's no better way to show ones gratitude than with a delicious home cooked meal.
My neighbor has helped me out countless times with my grill and I was able to use his lessons to cook these amazing steaks for him and his wife. It was a great pleasure to sit at their table and share a delicious meal.
I served the meal in the way my family has served it for many years, a grilled steak with guacamole and chirmol (salsa) on the side, with a grilled corn and potato. It was such a pleasure to share that bit of my culture with my neighbors who have shared their Midwest culture with us countless times.
