Thinking about dropping $300 on 1700mbs wireless connection. (product links included)
Post Body

So, our old router died and my roomie picked up a Cisco e1500 for free.

I get a horrible signal that results in about 150kbs downloads in my basement and running a hardline really isn't an option. Also, my mackbook pro has problems with dropping signal here and there so I think I really need something on the 5ghz band to avoid this problem. After looking at some tech I've been drooling over the ASUS RT-AC66U paired with the Asus PCE-AC66

Because, if I need to upgrade and I'm going to spend more then 25 on a card what's the big difference between 60 and 90? Also If I'm going to buy a new router... I have a hard time talking myself into anything slower then the ASUS RT-N66U and again, what's the difference between 150 and 190?

While I could blow 300 on a new wireless set up. It kinda makes me cringe a little to do so. But blowing 220ish vs blowing 300 isn't that big of a difference and the speed gains seem pretty palpable.

Any input would be lovely. I chose newegg because the detailed specs and reviews are convenient... and precises are only pennies better on alternate sites that I'm aware of.

Edit: Also, I know there antenna upgrades but I really don't know what's a standard upgrade. Anything that's a MUST HAVE? I found This bad boy that's a 9dbi but I really dont know the difference between 5dbi or 9dbi or whatever. Is it moot because the antenna is 2.4ghz and I'll be needing the 5ghz? or whats the deal with antenna. This is a less pertinent question but, sense I have your attention...
