I'd like to celebrate my birthday this month with a special bottle of Burgundy. Typically I would celebrate with a Napa Valley Cab alongside a juicy ribeye steak, but I'd like to venture out to a different style. I have basically zero experience with Burgundy, but I've enjoyed plenty of California pinot noir from the central valley and Santa Cruz mountains.
From my research, I know that 2018, 2015, 2010, and 2005 are pretty exceptional vintages for Burgundy, so that is where I've focused my selections. My ceiling is $250/bottle but I'd preferably like to keep it below $200. Here are the wines I am considering:
2010 Domaine Michel Lafarge Greves - $245
2010 Bouchard Pere & Fils Greves Vignes de L'Enfant Jesus - $124
2015 Joseph Drouhin Beaune Rouge Clos des Mouches - $192
2005 Joseph Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches - $229
What would your pick be for a ready-to-drink bottle? Any other suggestions are happily welcomed!
