Should I enable indexing if I use a SSD?

Post Body
I have two Microsoft surface 3 laptops with solid state drives. Sometimes in file explorer, the search is very slow and I get β working on itβ. I have indexing turned off because I read its not good for my SSD. Is this true? Is there another way to speed up search from explorer? I hesitate to use a third party app because the interface might confuse my wife who is not tech savvy. Oh this is windows 11 insider preview beta channel and latest build. Thank you
