Got Windows 8 recently and so-far I'm liking the change. However, I am having a major-problem that is causing me a great-deal of annoyance; sometimes when attempting to connect to a wireless network, the right-panel for network-connections (the one that pops-up when you hit the wireless-icon on the taskbar) will randomly lock-up and close. While I am able to access the general "Search, Share, Start etc." right-taskbar, and the "Settings" sections as-such, tapping the network icon will not bring back the network settings in this menu. Clicking the wireless-icon in the taskbar also does nothing. The computer will not connect to the internet until I restart.
This is extremely-annoying because it means that anytime I attempt to connect to a new network or bring the computer back from standby, there is a random-chance I will have to save all my work immediately, close my session and restart before I can start using the internet again.
I have tried disabling/re-enabling the wireless device, updating the driver and have tested the problem on both my home and work connections. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
