Need help, and yes, I searched...

I have been on WiiU site and this reddit group...I cant find the help I need.
I have an older Wii and when I plug it into my newer tv, the screen is not in color, and has grey lines. Doesnt matter which TV I use.
I likely dont know the key words to search more accurately...Can anyone help?
