just picked up a used limited edition toad wii remote from facebook marketplace (along with nunchuk and regular wii pro controller for $40) today.

however the wii remote had batteries in that probably never came out once they were put in, as they corroded pretty bad. i got the batteries out and took everything apart and cleaned the motherboard and the battery contacts. one battery contact on the motherboard still does look pretty rough, i couldn't clean all the corrosion off plus i think it rusted a bit.

the controller does work tho! but i think the battery contact will eventually need to be replaced. i saw they sell pretty cheap online, so i think ill pick up a set or two.

but overall, for my first refurbishment project it was pretty straight forward and not too difficult and regardless, $40 for the whole lot, pretty much pays for just the wii remote by itself. (special edition plus motion plus) let alone the nunchuk and wii controller.
